Fish, come into the yard!
The “Dieniņas” Fishermen’s Farm is located right along the Engure–Kolka road in Bērzciems, surrounded by beautiful, unique nature. It is only about 60 meters from the sea. A meadow stretches all the way to the water’s edge, and a beautiful boardwalk extends 157 m out into the sea across the meadow. Many birds make their homes in the shallow lagoon and the reed beds growing along the shore.
The owners of “Dieniņu” strive to preserve the traditions of fishing and fish processing, keep the atmosphere of a fisherman’s homestead alive, and document the cultural and historical heritage of the fishing village. The innkeeper, Oskars, is a fisherman in at least the fifth generation.
“The foundation is there, and we’re trying to preserve what’s left for future generations,” says Iveta, the hostess. The owners’ main motivation for promoting the history and daily life of the fishing village is their love for their homeland and their native village.
The fish products at the Dieniņas Fishermen’s Farm are prepared according to ancient, time-honored, local fish-processing recipes, using a special fish-processing technique unique to this location.
No artificial preservatives are used in the preparation of the fish. The Dieniņas Fishermen’s Farm offers smoked fish and fish-based culinary products.
