Beef cattle producers in Latvia are joining forces
To date, Latvia’s beef cattle industry has been primarily export-oriented, and high-quality beef is mostly available through direct sales or directly from farms. This spring, in order to expand the range of their products offered directly on the local market, several beef cattle farms joined forces to form a cooperative—“Latvian Cattle.”
The cooperative’s goal is to provide Latvian consumers with truly high-quality meat sourced from Latvian farms and rural areas.
The cooperative’s goal is to ensure a year-round supply of products to consumers. Without a doubt, one of the benefits that farms gain by working together is that consumers have the opportunity to purchase meat every week. There are no situations in which meat can be provided only when the farmers have it themselves.
Meat deliveries are scheduled to take place weekly, as a delivery schedule has been established to ensure a smooth and organized delivery every week to the following cities in Latvia: Riga, Mārupe, Jūrmala, Saldus, Olaine, Iecava, Bauska, Ķekava, Jelgava, Salaspils, Ogre, Ādaži, Sigulda, Limbaži, Valmiera, Cēsis, Madona, Jēkabpils, Aizkraukle, Baltezers, Iecava, Bauska, Eleja, Tērvete, Dobele, Tukums, Saldus, Kuldīga, and Liepāja.
Beef cattle producers also see a promising future for their industry in the local market. Although pork is traditionally more common on Latvian tables, demand for high-quality beef has been growing recently.
